Please Note: Below you will find a preliminary calendar of Key Dates for both the Fall 2019-Spring 2020 and Spring-Fall 2020 cohorts. These timelines are subject to change.


Key Dates for 2019-2020 Fall-Spring Cohort:

September 1, 2019: Students arrive in Taiwan and move into NTU dorms (Students who do not live in dorms will check in at in at designated hotels in Taipei while they search for an apartment. The Center strongly recommends that they arrive 7 to 10 days before September 1.)

September 2-6, 2019: Taipei Flagship Overseas Center in-country orientation; NTU orientation. Registration for NTU direct enrollment courses on September 2 with assistance of Center staff.

September 10, 2019: Classes begin

September 24, 2019: Moon Festival

October 10, 2019: National Day

November 5-9, 2019: Midterms

January 1-3, 2020: New Year Break

January 4-8, 2020: Final Exams

January 10-14, 2020: Winter Break

January 15, 2020: Internships begin

February 4-8, 2020: Chinese New Year

February 28, 2020: Peace Memorial Day

March 1, 2020: Adjusted Holiday

May 15, 2020: Internships end

May 18 - June 5, 2020: Superior-Level Language Practicums

June 7, 2020: Dragon Boat Festival

June 8-9, 2020: American Council Exit Proficiency Tests

June 10, 2020: Closing ceremony and farewell party

June 18, 2020: Flagship students return to US on or before June 18

May 3, 2020: NTU Art Festival

June 7, 2020: Dragon Boat Festival

June 17-21, 2020: Final Exams

June 22-27, 2020: Flagship students break

July 1, 2020: Internships begin

October 30, 2020: Internships end

November 1-23, 2020: Superior-Level Language Practicums

November 24-25, 2020: American Council Exit Proficiency Tests

November 26, 2020: Closing ceremony and farewell party

December 2, 2020: Flagship students return to US on or before December 2


In addition to the dates outlined above, the following regular activities will be offered to both cohorts by the Taipei Flagship Overseas Center:
  • Weekly guest speaker events on Wednesday afternoons from 1:00 to 2:30 p.m.
  • Students should go out with language partners to explore Taipei on weekends.
  • Students are required to join at least one NTU club.
  • The Resident Director will host a monthly meeting on Friday afternoon from 3:00 to 5:00 p.m.
  • Site director and faculty advisors will meet with students on the 25th of each month for 10-15 minute individual conferences.
  • Students can join day-long trips organized by ICLP during the semester as long as they don’t conflict with the Overseas Center’s classes or activities.
  • Students are encouraged to join all events organized by ICLP and NTU during their free time.
